The conference started by the exposition of the conference theme Hosea 4:6—“My People are destroyed for lack of knowledge”. The teaching focused on the foundational teachings for effective Christian walk such as “walking in the fear of the Lord and walking in integrity” The teachings aimed at bringing knowledge to God’s people to enable them enjoy an abundant filled life as Christ intended..

CONFERENCE DETAILSThe conferences were both residential for participants from far and could not easily get back home. Participants who live within the community commuted from their homes. The resident participants (those who were accommodated) at the conference in Buikwe were 50 and 350 in Nazigo. ALIM provided all the 3 major meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner) to the conference participants.
    EFFECTIVENESS OF THE TEACHINGS
In response to the teaching on baptism of the Holy Spirit, over 150 delegates were baptized in the Holy Spirit during the conference in Buikwe and 500 in Nazigo. During the baptism, men and women spoke in tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance. In his message “Baptism in the Holy Spirit”, Pastor Ernest explained that speaking in tongues is a sign that a believer has been equipped to do everything that Jesus did.

Hundreds of believers received the baptism of the Holy Spirit at the conference in Nazigo

The illustration above depicted the desire of God to fill every believer with a full measure of His presence and the flow of the Holy Spirit.
In response to the message on marriage as God intended, 02 couples were wedded in the sight of God during the conference in Buikwe and 11 couples in Nazigo. The pastoral leadership in both towns was then encouraged to follow the same example by wedding people in simplicity as demonstrated during the conference. If this practice of wedding people in simplicity is fully embraced, it will reduce the number of people in church living together without being wedded. In both conferences many of the leaders in attendance confessed that they were living with a partner whom they have not wedded with. During the ministry of the word, Pastor Ernest said that it is such practices among the believers that are weakening the effectiveness of the Church.

13 couples were wedded in the sight of God in the ALIM Conference in Buikwe and Nazigo

The participants were encouraged to buy a booklet to write notes since there is a provision for the same as well as for making references to the conference teachings. During the conference, 328 booklets were sold (87 in Buikwe and 241 in Nazigo) at a subsidized price of Ugx 3000.

Each couple received a certificate of marriage in the sight of God

HOLY COMMUNION
The teaching on the sacrament of Holy Communion signified the importance of the church as one with a mission and purpose to bring glory to God. The cup signifies blood for the forgiveness of sins of all mankind and the bread represents the body of Jesus Christ; a symbol of health and wholeness for all believers. …. “By His stripes, we are healed”….Isaiah 53:4-5. The message of communion was appropriate because the ALIM team through a discussion with the pastors discovered that many church congregations in both towns were not celebrating communion.  Many reasons were given to justify whey communion was not being celebrated, but the one that was prominent among all the rest was lack of knowledge on how to conduct communion. After the message and the celebration of communion, many leaders resolved to carry on with the sacrament of communion in remembrance of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ and a reminder of His return.

Celebration of Communion at the  conference in Nazigo

During the conference,  a message was given on giving as an act of worship as well as a way through which God blesses his children as opposed to receiving. A teaching was delivered on work and trusting God. In this message, the emphasis was on the fact that God has given his childeren the ability to make wealth. However, this requires hard work from God’s people as they trust Him to bring good out of their labour.

COMMUNITY SERVICE
The message on community service was taught as a means to encourage the church to go and get involved in the communities where God has placed them in a more practical way. Community service in its current state is believed to be one of  the most effective ways of evangelism. By sharing what you have with those who do not have gives an opportunity for the giver to share the love of Jesus with the reciever. As a demonstration, money was collected during the conference and the proceedings were used to buy food and non-food items and they where taken to the hospital and the prisons. Kayunga hospital was visted when the conference participants conducted community service and100 patients were prayed for and each one of them received  a food pack consisting of rice, sugar, milk, cooking oil and soap. 7 people received Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Saviour during the outreach.
During the conferences an opportunity was given to those who were not born again to make a confession to receive Jesus Christ as Lord and savior and 2 people responded to the call in Buikwe and 3 in Nazigo respectively. After a prayer of repentance, these new believers were handed over to the host pastor for nurturing and discipleship. The number of those who confessed Jesus Christ as Lord and savior during the conference period was 12 in total.

APPRECIATION
Thanks to the Almighty God for the grace and favor that he placed upon the ALIM team under the leadership of Pastor Ernest that enabled them to make these conferences a success. The ALIM team would like to extend appreciation to everyone who contributed to make the ministry in Buikwe and Nazigo a success. God bless you all.

Blessings to you all
